The real cost of hiring the wrong cleaner.

A well-maintained home — the result of the right cleaning relationship

The quote comparison is the first thing most people do. Three services, three numbers, pick the middle one. It's reasonable — price is visible, and everything else feels hard to evaluate before you've tried it. We understand it. We just think it's measuring the wrong thing.

After ten years and over 16,000 home visits, we've watched homeowners go through this cycle more times than we can count. The low quote, the initial relief, the slow accumulation of problems — then the search for someone new. When people come to us after that experience, we always hear the same thing: I wish I'd just done this from the start.

What you're actually buying

When you hire a cleaner, you're not buying a clean. You're buying a system — a set of people, processes, standards, and accountability structures that either hold up over time or they don't. A single visit can look fine from almost anyone. The difference shows after visit six, visit twelve, visit thirty.

A service that cuts corners on training, vetting, equipment, or communication can produce a presentable first clean. What they can't produce reliably is the fifteenth clean at the same standard. That's where the real cost starts to show.

The costs people don't count

Damaged surfaces. Wrong products on stone, hardwood, or specialty finishes cause real damage — sometimes permanent. We've seen grout discoloration, dulled quartz, stripped wax on hardwood floors. The cleaning bill is small; the remediation bill is not. This is one reason we use non-toxic, surface-appropriate products on every visit. Not just for health — for protection.

The management tax. Every time a cleaner reschedules, sends someone different, misses something they were told about, or goes silent when you reach out — you spend time on it. Making calls, sending texts, doing walkthroughs, following up. That time has value. For most of our clients, it's more valuable than the hourly difference between services. The homes that stay in the best condition are the ones where the homeowner has stopped having to manage the service at all.

The low quote trades your time for its savings. Most people don't realize that until they're three providers in.

The re-clean cycle. Services that don't maintain a consistent standard leave homes that drift. Surfaces that were cleaned shallowly build up faster. A home that should stay in good shape on a bi-weekly schedule starts needing attention weekly. The cadence that was supposed to save money ends up insufficient, and you're either spending more time between visits or paying for additional services to compensate.

Starting over. Every time you switch providers, there's a reset period — new people learning your home, your preferences, your expectations. That period takes time and attention. The homes that look and feel consistently well-kept are the ones with a long-term relationship in place. Switching costs aren't zero.

What the right service actually costs

We're not cheap. We don't try to be. Our pricing reflects trained professionals, consistent teams, quality products, clear communication, and a service structure built to hold up over years — not just weeks. We know that's not the right fit for every homeowner, and we say that honestly.

What we can say is this: the families who've been with us for three, five, seven years aren't staying because they haven't looked at the options. They're staying because they've done the math — not just on the invoice, but on everything the service costs and everything it saves.

How to actually evaluate a cleaning service

Ask how they handle a complaint. Ask what happens when the team member who knows your home isn't available. Ask whether they're bonded and insured — and what that actually covers. Ask how long their average client has been with them.

A service confident in its quality answers these directly. A service that deflects or pivots back to price is telling you something.

The quote is the starting point. The relationship is what you're actually deciding on.
